Tips
For Building Your Online Database |
|
|
|
Tip 1: Build a Form |
|
You need a form for web visitors to complete
and insert their email address and their
name.
You can choose here how complicated you want
to make the form however we would recommend
at least a double opt in so that each new
registrant is emailed a confirmation that
they need to action to confirm their
registration in your database. |
|
|
|
Tip 2: Database |
|
You need a database linked to your web site
to collect the email addresses your form
generates. Talk to your web host company
about this, you may already have a database
available under your hosting package. |
|
|
|
Tip 3: Reason to Register |
You need a reason for visitors to your web
site to register their info, these can
include:
-
a survey;
-
a download of a white paper;
-
a download of an audio file life a pod
cast;
-
an opportunity to attend a function;
-
a request for information;
-
an entry to a competition;
-
to receive your newsletter;
-
an exclusive future release;
|
|
Tip 4: Referral |
|
If your web site does not include a method
for users to refer you to their friends you
will be missing business opportunities. This
needs simply to be a form that includes 2
additional items of information ie. the
referrers name and their email address. This
way you get two entries to your database. |
|
|
|
Tip 5: Change |
|
Provide your visitors with a reason to
return to your site and in doing so to build
their trust in you. Providing new content
regularly – and content that delivers them
some value will give them a reason to
return. |
